Riding and Instruction

Students will ride everyday. They will take part in formal riding lessons which will cover the basic riding principles on the flat and over jumps, according to the students riding ability. The riding instruction is done by the Principal of the Academy, Chantelle McCabe (Level 1, busy completing her SANEF Level 2), her assistant, Erane Jacobs (SANEF Module 4.  Aiming toward her SANEF Level 1),  as well as Vicky Rowlands, one of the most experienced and respected Level 2 instructors in the country. The students will be getting some polo instruction and help ride the 13 polo ponies that are in training on the farm.

Students will go on outrides in the surrounding Harkerville forest, where they can ride for up to 3 hours or more, riding along the cliff front overlooking the ocean, as well as a picnic ride at the cliffs watching the sun rise.

Students get the opportunity to compete on the Fijnbosch horses at local shows in all disciplines.

These disciplines include:

  • Dressage
  • Showjumping
  • Eventing
  • Equitation
  • Showing
  • Polo (NEW!!) (The polo assist in teaching the students balance and agility on the back of the horse)

(NEW!!)   Outside riding clinics will be held at the academy, which students can take part in.  These include:
